CareerInView browser extension

Privacy notice

Last updated: October 13, 2026

You choose which jobs to add and which applications to track.

This notice explains how the CareerInView extension handles information when you save and track job applications in CareerInView. The extension is published by CareerInView.

Information the extension handles

When information is read

Before you add a job, the extension checks page URLs, relevant Apply control labels, its settings, and the relationship between the source and destination tabs. Job details are read after you choose Add job. Choosing No does not read the listing's job details or create an application record.

Automatic LinkedIn prompts are off until you enable them. Application tracking and file capture require the separate Track this application choice. You can stop tracking from the extension.

Tracking checks submission signals and confirmation wording. It does not read your other form answers, fill fields, submit applications, or retrieve documents stored only on an employer's server.

The extension does not read passwords, browser cookies, private messages, or your general browsing history. It does not collect unrelated pages to build a browsing profile.

How information is used and shared

Information is used to save the jobs you choose, prevent duplicates, update the selected application, attach its documents, and display those records in your CareerInView tracker.

Approved job information and selected files are sent over HTTPS to CareerInView's configured Supabase database and file service. CareerInView's website is hosted by Vercel. These providers process the requests needed to operate the service, including the technical connection information necessary to receive those requests.

Connected advisors can see attached files. Advisors connected to your student account can view application progress and download the resume and cover letter attached to an application. They cannot browse your unused file library or read private application notes. Disconnecting an advisor prevents new authorized access; a download link already issued can remain valid for up to 60 seconds.

The extension has no advertising or analytics integration and does not transfer collected content to advertising services or data brokers. It does not use this information for creditworthiness or lending decisions.

The extension does not send your documents to an employer or job board. Any application you submit on those websites is a separate action, governed by that website's practices.

Website email reminders

CareerInView account settings include email reminders for saved upcoming dates. When email delivery is available and reminders are enabled, CareerInView sends your verified account email address and the relevant event title, date, time zone, and tracker link to Resend to deliver the reminder. Event titles may include a company name or, for an advisor follow-up, the connected student's name. Reminder emails do not include resumes, cover letters, job descriptions, or private notes.

You can change the timing and time zone or turn reminders off in My workspace → Reminders. The default is 8:00 AM on the event day in your saved time zone. Your preferences and delivery records are stored in CareerInView's Supabase service. Public email delivery remains off while the sending domain is being set up.

Storage and retention

Settings, saved-job links, and the limited connection token are stored in your browser's extension storage. Tokens can last up to 30 days, subject to the linked account session, and can renew when you reconnect from the signed-in tracker. They are separate from your website sign-in credentials.

Temporary LinkedIn-to-company Apply attempts expire after ten minutes. Optional tracking expires after eight hours and also stops when its tab closes or its account, page, or permission checks no longer match. Temporary associations use browser session storage. Resume and cover-letter bytes and job descriptions are not retained in extension storage.

Saved applications and uploaded files remain in your CareerInView account until removed. Files belong to a reusable library: deleting an application or removing its attachment does not automatically delete the uploaded file from the library. Signing out or uninstalling the extension does not delete information already saved in CareerInView.

Browser permissions and your choices

First-use setup asks for access to HTTPS websites so the extension can work with different job boards and employer sites. That permission does not turn on automatic collection. Reading job details and tracking applications still follow the choices described above.

The extension uses the active tab, script injection, browser storage, and navigation information to show its controls, read the selected job, follow a LinkedIn Apply destination, and keep tracking bound to the correct application. Required access to the CareerInView website and database connects your account and saves your records.

You can change or revoke site access in Chrome's extension settings, turn off automatic prompts, stop tracking, or uninstall the extension. Revoking a permission can prevent the associated feature from working.

Your records and deletion requests

You can edit and delete application records in your tracker, change the files attached to an application, and disconnect advisors.

To request deletion of uploaded files or your CareerInView account and associated data, email ryansalemjaafari@gmail.com from your account email address and describe what you want removed. Do not send your password, connection token, or copies of your documents.
